Life coaching is a dynamic process that uses positive psychology to identify individual potential and establish personal and professional goals. Serving as a supportive ally, a life coach offers perspective, positive motivation, and meaningful accountability.

You’re in the driver’s seat. You set the goals, share your needs and interests, because you know yourself best.  Sometimes, though, we all get stuck. A coach acts as your supporter, helping you discover what works for you and take action to move forward.

There’s no magic fix, but with commitment, coaching can be a powerful tool. It looks at the big picture, exploring how different parts of your life connect to create a positive path for you.

ADHD coaching is life coaching through an ADHD lens. ADHD might bring challenges, but you also possess unique strengths and wisdom that make you the expert in your life.

Growing up with ADHD (and not knowing it) can make us feel like we have a sign on our backs. Many late diagnosed adults got by on their smarts and coping mechanisms that worked until they didn’t. We finally hit a wall that gets the best of us and figure out there is an explanation for the invisible thing that was there all along.

Exploring an ADHD diagnosis with a coach can be a supportive and insightful journey. Coaches specializing in ADHD are trained to provide a structured and understanding environment where individuals can navigate the complexities of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Through open conversations, goal setting, and personalized strategies, a coach can assist in identifying patterns, challenges, and strengths associated with ADHD. This collaborative approach empowers individuals to gain self awareness, develop effective coping mechanisms, and implement tailored strategies to improve focus, productivity, and overall well being. The coach serves as a guide, offering encouragement and practical tools to navigate the unique aspects of ADHD, fostering personal growth and resilience.

We’ll work together to find new ways to “Adult”:
  • Focus on strengths: ADHD brains often excel in creativity, problem-solving, and out-of-the-box thinking. Coaching helps leverage these strengths for success.
  • Embrace Flexibility: Rigid routines might not work. ADHD coaching encourages finding adaptable systems that work for your unique brain.
  • Self-Care Matters: Prioritizing healthy sleep, exercise, and stress management is crucial for overall well-being and focus. Coaching can guide you in creating self-care routines.
By understanding your ADHD and implementing personalized strategies, coaching can empower you to:
  • Increase Productivity: Achieve goals and manage tasks efficiently.
  • Reduce Stress and Overwhelm: Develop coping mechanisms for emotional regulation.
  • Improve Relationships: Enhance communication and build stronger connections.
  • Embrace Your ADHD: Learn to thrive with your unique neurodiversity.

As teenagers with ADHD navigate the complexities of late adolescence, some may experience a growing awareness of how their ADHD impacts daily life. They might struggle with managing school work and extra curriculars, planning for the future (college applications, choosing a career path), and/or taking independent steps like scheduling appointments. The added load can lead to frequent overwhelm and resistance to engage. This creates a frustrating cycle for parents who support their child’s independence but often end up managing tasks as before.

Here’s where coaching comes in. Coaching empowers teens with ADHD by:
  • Developing Independence: Teens gain self-managed strategies, reducing reliance on parents and fostering a smoother transition into adulthood.
  • Understanding ADHD: Through coaching, teens develop self-awareness of their strengths, challenges, and unique brain wiring, allowing them to approach situations with a deeper understanding.
  • Building Skills: Coaching equips teens with practical methods to overcome common hurdles like procrastination, impulsivity, and organizational difficulties.
  • Highlighting the Importance of Self-Care: Coaching can guide teens in creating daily routines that prioritize healthy sleep, exercise, and stress management.
  • Lifelong Tools: The skills developed through coaching become a valuable toolkit, enabling teens to thrive not just in high school, but beyond, setting them up for success in the years to come.

Women and girls with ADHD often face distinct challenges compared to boys. Their presentation of ADHD may be subtler, focusing less on hyperactivity and more on inattentiveness, disorganization, and emotional disregulation. Not knowing why they feel different can lead to internalizing the experience which can result in anxiety, low self-esteem, and difficulty managing emotions, which are often mistaken for the primary issue. Societal expectations can further hinder ADHD diagnosis, as girls are typically expected to be quieter and more organized. These factors contribute to a later diagnosis rate in females, leaving them without crucial support during critical developmental stages.

ADHD coaching can be a game-changer for women:

  • Unmasking the Underlying Cause: Coaching helps women recognize how ADHD manifests in their lives, differentiating it from downstream challenges that can sometimes get the most attention from others but will usually improve as ADHD is managed.
  • Building Self-Awareness: They gain a deeper understanding of their strengths, weaknesses, and unique brain wiring, fostering self-compassion and acceptance.
  • Developing Coping Mechanisms: Coaching can equip women with practical tools to better navigate ADHD challenges and reduce overwhelm.
  • Empowering Action: Coaching fosters the development of personalized strategies to build self-advocacy skills, overcome procrastination, and achieve personal and professional goals.
